Full Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Technical Analyst Cereals & Oilseeds Recommended Lists to work on a hybrid basis, two/three days from our HQ in Coventry and the remainder working remotely from home. A full UK driving is preferred as travel to the Peterborough area in May, August and November will be required for meetings.

This role works with a specialist team and has responsibility to provide analytical and technical support to the Recommended Lists (RL) project with expertise in accurate production of technical and scientific documentation. We are looking for a data driven individual with a high level of numeracy and analytical ability and the added knowledge of arable agriculture, including field trials.

  • Collect, collate, verify, quality assure and analyse data associated with the Recommended Lists (RL) project

  • Provide technical support to the trials program through production of high quality, accurate and clearly presented technical documentation

  • Co-ordinate seed distribution to RL trials, including liaising with seed suppliers, seed handling contractors and seed inspectors to ensure timely seed supply

  • Work with RL technical team to produce and deliver crop sample bags and labels to Contract Research Organisations.

  • Co-ordinate trial harvest samples by communicating with stakeholders

  • Collect, process, analyse and upload trial data, including trial plan generation, trial plot data, lab data and data received from third parties

  • Scrutinise and validate data using routine statistical analysis prior to upload to the trial workbooks and RL database

  • Assist in the collation, analysis and presentation of RL trial and test data to produce tables for the consideration of RL committees and sub-committees

  • Assist in the production of publications associated with the RL in paper and digital formats, including proof-reading of technical documents

  • Prepare technical documentation for Contract Research Organisations and AHDB technical team to run and validate trials including protocols and trial information packs

  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the basics of agronomy of cereals, oilseeds crops

    Knowledge of arable agriculture including field trials

  • High level of numeracy, data management and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with experience of database operation

  • Ability to produce and scrutinise technical scientific documents and data with a high degree of accuracy

  • Basic understanding of finance to communicate with finance and procurement

  • Good verbal and written communication skills, and able to work under pressure to tight deadlines
