Full Job Description

The Surgical Outpatient Department delivers a high standard of patient care, minor procedures and interventions. The specialties included are General Surgery, Colorectal, Breast, Vascular, Upper GI and Urology. We see patients from initial consultation through consultations ahead of treatment and follow up appointments after discharge.

The Breast services have one stop clinics where patients have on the day imaging and diagnosis working alongside the Breast Care Nurses and Breast Imaging department to provide a holistic service.

The variety of Urology clinics include a One Stop Service for all new patients where investigations and minor procedures are carried out in the clinics and patients are given a diagnosis and plan of care on the day where required and are seen by the Uro-Oncology team.

In the vascular clinics we undertake simple to complex dressings and wound management, implementing plans of care with the vascular specialist team, podiatrist and patient. Encouraging the patient to be involved in their own care pathway is upmost to the service we offer. We are also now providing a Radio-frequency ablation service for patients in the out-patient setting., Work with all members of the Ward/Department clinical team within the multi-disciplinary framework. Maintain a high standard of patient care under the direction of the Ward/Department Sister/Charge Nurse.

Act as a leader in the clinical area, in the absence of a more senior member of staff. To work in accordance with the principles set out by the Nursing/Midwifery professional bodies and Trust Policies.

Support leaners and junior colleagues, developing learning opportunities where able for both staff, learners and patients.
