Project Manager "Traditional Tales, Untraditionally Told"

We are looking for a talented project manager with experience in MakerSpace education. Your role will be as a Project Manager on the project "Traditional Tales, Untraditionally Told" funded by University's Knowledge Exchange programme, which supports the University to make a positive difference within the regions, the UK, and the world. You will be working with the Principal Investigator, Dr Sabine Little, and our Maker {Futures} team to facilitate schools and libraries in engaging with multilingual families. As project manager, you will provide comprehensive research project management of the project "Traditional Tales, Untraditionally Told" ensuring the project achieves its objectives and is delivered within the timeframe and on budget. Including organising and coordinating work within the project, working with project partners, including organising meetings and planning project timelines.

Children and young people require the mindsets to think critically, be creative and curious, and to develop innovative approaches to solving problems that better equip them for a fast-changing world. The Maker{Futures} programme has been developed with local school and library partners as a way of embedding this into formal and non-formal education. The project "Traditional Tales, Untraditionally Told" focuses specifically on working with multilingual children and families in the region (via schools and libraries), to improve accessibility of makerspace pedagogy and bridge an intergenerational gap in passing on heritage languages within the family.

The School has undertaken to date a range of projects which strive to further educational practice with regard to the provision of makerspaces in early years settings and schools, libraries, museums and community centres through the ambitious Maker {Futures} programme. This work will further the University of Sheffield's strategy, which includes an aim to, 'work closely with our city and region to support and sustain mutually beneficial activities'. This work contributes to the School of Education's impact strategy, both in the short- and long-term.

You will be required to work flexible hours to accommodate early starts and occasional weekend events. At events you will coordinate a series of maker-based activities during the workshops such as robotics, electronics, cardboard construction, and other STEM/STEAM related activities, ensuring they are conducted in line with plans and with risk assessments. You will undertake evaluation activities on completion of workshops. You will also have experience in digital communication and support with social media, blog posts and media related to the programme such as contributing to a digital newsletter.
