Full Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of our Network Response Team. You'll play an essential role in ensuring our customers water supplies are restored within 3 hours of an issue with a reliable, consistent, and versatile 24/7 service.

As a Network Response Manager, on a 12 month secondment you'll lead a team of 12 technical experts to achieve water quality targets, manage supply interruptions, and ensure compliance. Your role involves providing technical advice, driving improvement initiatives, and supporting the AMP 7 strategy. Additionally, you'll oversee the SEMD for bottled water strategy and ensure regulatory compliance with DWI requirements.

Some of your other key accountabilities will include:

  • Drive asset improvement initiatives linked to a £125M AMP 8 capital investment for mains renewal, addressing water quality and compliance risk failures.


  • Support reactive workstreams for WQCC and CRI tap failures, collaborating with Drinking Water Safety and Public Health & Standards teams to embed improvements and provide governance on network water quality risk.


  • Serve as a primary contact for network water quality, addressing repeat or escalated customer complaints and leading Root Cause Analysis processes for infra water quality events.


  • Contribute to meeting water quality ODIs and improving Water Quality CMEX scores. Support network response team during supply interruption events and assist operation control centre (OCC) for Silver and above events.


  • Drive improvements in SEMD bottled water process to meet AMP 8 legal requirements.


  • Continually review performance drivers and adapt/implement improvement plans, providing updates to the Network Response Lead and relevant meetings.


  • Demonstrate strong leadership, motivation, and prioritization skills, fostering collaboration across teams to achieve balanced water quality improvement.


  • Possess expertise in network water quality, operations, water networks, water science, and relevant regulations.


  • Lead and inspire a highly technical team, ensuring effective process decisions daily.


  • Be expected to work alone and take a flexible approach as travel to a variety of locations across STW estate is required and work a 37-hour week, which includes standby.

  • You'll work Monday - Friday 37 hours per week

    To be successful you'll ideally have you will need to possess excellent technical knowledge of water quality risks, processes, and issues, along with strong communication and influencing skills.


  • You will also need proven experience in leading and managing a diverse portfolio of complex activities and relationships is essential, as well as the ability to optimize professional team activities. Collaborating with and effectively influencing stakeholders at all levels within the organization is key, as is the ability to prioritize, plan, and deliver outputs to meet deadlines.
