Full Job Description

Selby Locality Board is looking to appoint an experienced candidate for the role of Inclusion Lead. This exciting role will be a two-year secondment (or equivalent), in which the successful candidate will work together with North Yorkshire Council's SEND & Inclusion Officer to support the Locality Board to deliver its ambitious objectives around inclusion. This will include supporting schools to develop inclusive approaches within their schools, as well as working with a wide range of partners within the Locality Board and beyond to develop systems which help all children to engage with their education. The role is part time for three days a week, although there is flexibility around this, and the exact structure of the working week will be agreed with the successful candidate and their current employer.

We are looking for a hard-working candidate who is dedicated to ensuring that all young people benefit from a high-quality education, no matter what their barriers to learning. You will have previous experience of leading projects, working with a range of colleagues to improve outcomes for young people, and you will have an excellent knowledge of SEND practices and policies, particularly around SEMH and Communication and Interaction. This is a leadership role, and to be successful, you will be solution-focused and have an understanding of how schools, colleges, the local authority and other providers can work together to provide excellent opportunities.

The successful candidate will be employed by Selby High School, and will be line-managed by the Principal of Selby High, who is also the Chair of the Locality Board. Selby Locality Board has representatives from Early Years, Primary, Secondary, Sixth Form Colleges, Special Schools and together with the local authority works in partnership to improve SEND approaches across Selby District.

We are committed to meeting the needs of our diverse community and aim to have a workforce reflecting this diversity. We are also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults. We have a robust child protection policy and all staff will receive training relevant to their role at induction and throughout employment at the school. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is subject to satisfactory references and enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service criminal records check for work with children. An online search may be undertaken for shortlisted candidates as part of the recruitment process on information available in the public domain. Candidates should disclose anything that may be relevant in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education.
