Lecturer / Senior Lecturer - Speech and Language Therapy

The position of lecturer/senior lecturer consists of a range of teaching and learning activities supporting students across the programme and related departmental activities such as recruitment (including open days and interviews). You will be required to work as part of a team of academics and practitioners across the school from various professional backgrounds and demonstrate the ability to teach professional education and clinical skills to the highest standards. You will also undertake a range of student supervision/tutoring duties.

You will be expected to contribute to the University's research and knowledge exchange activities through your own research and by supporting undergraduate and postgraduate student research.

Where you'll work:

In this role, you will be part of the Speech and Language Therapy department on our green campus in the north of Plymouth. The University has a well-established reputation for its taught programme in Speech and Language Therapy and has a thriving on-site SLT clinic. There will be opportunities for you to support student learning and clinical practice in this setting.

Our current hybrid working policy means you can work from home or on campus, but you will need to maintain strong campus links and be available on-site when needed, including for taught sessions.

You will be an experienced, HCPC Registered Speech and Language Therapist with a proven interest in clinical education. You will also have specialist clinical and academic knowledge relating to developmental speech, language and communication disorders in children. This appointment is subject to an enhanced level children and adults barred list disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

The successful candidate will have:


• Clinical expertise in paediatric speech, language and communication disorders.



• Current HCPC registration as a Speech & Language Therapist.



• Extensive clinical experience including experience of working with pre-registration students.



• Knowledge of current evidence-based practice and research in the field., Disability Confident

Lecturer: Grade 7, £29,679.20 - £33,385.60 (Pro-rata of £37,099.00 - £41,732.00)

Senior Lecturer: Grade 8, £34,382.40 - £43,516.00 (Pro-rata of £42,978.00 - £54,395.00)
