CAMHs Therapeutic Practitioner

hours per week. Thisis an fantastic opportunity within a new role being developed in the CAMHS service.

These Therapeutic Practitioners willsit between our Early Help Pathway and the Therapies Pathways. They will alsosupport in step down from the crisis pathway if they do not require require a longerintervention.

The aim will be to provide 10 to 15 sessions monitoredby using outcome measures and although they will be hosted in Early Help but willwork closely with all the pathways and enable the facilitation of CYP moving seamlessaround our pathways.

Ouryoung people do not fit into boxes or models of therapeutic delivery we hopethese new posts we will attract the type of clinician that will adapt to theyoung persons presentation using all their skills.

Enabling the CYP to comeinto the service and back out again without need to access longer terminterventions.

Thesuccessful applicant will also be supported to undertake additional therapeutictraining depending on the skills they arrive in our service with.

Thisrole will also undertake line management and caseload management andsupervision responsibilities for junior staff to support their development and theapplicants development.

Main duties of the job

This role will provide 10 to 15 sessions monitored by using outcome measures and although they will be hosted in Early Help but will work closely with all the pathways and enable the facilitation of CYP moving seamless around our pathways.

To work as part of the early helppathway working closely with Therapies pathway and P-CAP pathway working with children and young people who may present with mental health difficulties.

Todeliver evidence based interventions in a timely manner

Good risk management and assessment skills

If required tocontribute to the early help assessment clinics to ensure that children andyoung people access timely assessments and the appropriate targetedinterventions.

If required deliveryof group based, needs led groups within the school and community setting. Tosupport the delivery of evidence based parenting programmes for children andyoung people with mental health issues.

RepresentCAMHS in multi-agency meetings such as EHAT, SEND, CIN meetings or childprotection meetings to co-ordinate and have oversight of mental health elementof a multi-agency plan around a child.

Tofunction as a member of CAMHS early help pathway takingappropriate responsibility for the implementation of decisions made by the team.

Ensureplanned interventions are implemented effectively and evaluated using RoutineOutcome Monitoring (ROMS) and minimum date set., With teams in community hospitals, GP practices, sports centres, health & wellbeing hubs.

Co-ordination and implementation of evidence based interventions in a timely manner, in collaboration with the other clinicians across the CAMHS Pathway.

The postholder will need to have an awareness, knowledge and understanding of therapeutic principles to inform their practices and to support in providing interventions, outcomes so delivery best outcomes for CYP.

Assessments and interventions will come external to this post and from internal routes.

Providing 15 contacts with young people and families each week.

To support the delivery of evidence based group programmes for children and young people with mental health issues from a portfolio of available CAMHS training

Take a lead in representing CAMHS in multi-agency meetings such as EHAT, SEND meetings or child protection meetings to co-ordinate and have oversight of mental health element of a multi-agency plan around a child.

To function as a member of the CAMHS Early Help Pathway taking appropriate responsibility for the implementation of decisions made by the pathway.

Ensure planned interventions are implemented effectively and evaluated using Routine Outcome Monitoring (ROMS)

Maintain standards of care to highest level within available resources.

To actively participate in line management with senior and junior members of staff.

To liaise effectively with the other CAMHS Pathways

To develop and maintain relationships with providers statutory and non-statutory.

To maintain confidentiality in respect of the young people at all times.

Communicate clearly with children and young people, their families and all other health professional groups about their health problems.

Actively participate in clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives, clinical audit, essence of care or clinical policy development.

Ensure that children and young people are encouraged to play a part in decision making about the help they need and how they can access specific interventions.

This is to promote person-centred planning.,

• Take a lead in early intervention working with targeted response to outcome measures. Formulate plans for appropriate interventions or to sign post to relevant services.


• Making appropriate agreed referrals for longer-term treatment.


• Take a lead role in clinical decision-making and collaborating with other team members in the provision of children and young peoples care packages.


• Ensure the on-going effective use of routine outcome monitoring in line with CAMHS Early Help Pathway.


• Take a lead role in the identification of risk and the formulation of risk management plans within the identified schools..


• Provide education to children, young people and their families to enhance their knowledge therefore improving longer-term concordance.


• Promote resilience and prevention of mental health issues.


• Maintain high standards of clinical care to children, young people and their families.


• To liaise and work with other CAMHS Early Help Pathway to ensure the needs of children and met by the right team, on the right pathway at the right time.


Responsibility for Policy and Service Development

• Expected to contribute to the development of the CAMHS Early Help Pathway policies including the formulation of protocols.


• Implement all appropriate National, Livewell Southwest and Local Home Treatment policies and protocols.


Responsibilities for Human Resources :

• Provide clinical supervision and line management supervision for junior members of staff.


• Have the ability to challenge staff where the standard falls below expectations.


• Assist in education programmes provided for junior staff.


• Provide mentorship for students both formally and informally.


• Participate regularly in recruitment and selection of staff.


• The post holder will behave in a manner that does not bring the Early Help Pathway or Livewell Southwest into disrepute.


Responsibility for Information Resources :

• Responsible for Systm1 contacts and monitor the standard of work of junior staff.


• Maintain accurate, timely paper and electronic records. Ensure they are kept safely in accordance with Livewell Southwest policy.


Responsibility for Research and Development :

Provide a positive role in clinical audit and service evaluation to ensure high levels of clinical effectiveness.

Freedom to Act :

• The post holder will be individually accountable for their practice in accordance with the NMC professional Code of Conduct or HCPC.


• The post holder will actively participate in line management supervision with the Team Manager of the Early Help Pathway.


• Provide line management for junior staff.


• The post holder will actively participate in clinical supervision in accordance with Livewell Southwest policy.


• The post holder will actively participate in the Livewell Southwest appraisal system and provide appraisals for junior staff.


• The post holder will carry out other duties commensurate with the position as required.


Mental Effort :

• Accurate manual and electronic record keeping whilst coping with constant interruptions and distraction in the work place for example : telephone calls and questions from colleagues.


• Constantly deal with sensitive, intricate and complex clinical and service decisions whilst frequently being required to change from one activity to another at a third party request, Telephone or staff interruption and be able to respond in a positive and constructive manner to emergency situations.


• Managing to extract information from people with communication difficulties due to acute distressing mental health problems, often in noisy or busy environments.


Physical Effort :

• Ability to navigate around large hospital sites, which may involve using stairs.


• Home visits to multi-occupied buildings, some without lifts.


• Frequent driving to different areas of the city.


• Sitting at a computer terminal for long periods of time.


• May be a necessity to assist in the moving and handling of patients.
  
  The post holder will be responsible for updating their own practice, knowledge and skills within their sphere of practice including Livewell Southwest mandatory training.

Essential

• RMN, RSCN or RN(LD) registered with NMC or


• Occupational Therapist / Social Worker (registered with HCPC)


• Mentorship qualification.


• Diploma level specialist training / experience or equivalent


• Further relevant training / courses


• Clinical Supervision training.


• Evidence of completion of statutory and mandatory training.


Experience

• Post-registration experience of working with people with complex mental ill health within the community


• Experience of working collaboratively with the client and their families / carers.


• Completing complex mental health assessments in a variety of different settings in the community and signposting to relevant services.


• Relapse prevention and Recovery Principles.


• Experience of providing clinical supervision, mentoring and teaching to students and other health professionals.
