Full Job Description

Tradebe are looking for an Instrument & Control Technician for our site in Fawley.

The main purpose of the role is as follows:

  • To provide electrical, control and instrumentation (E,C&I) support to Operations and Engineering teams.

  • To perform all duties in accordance with documented work requirements, legislation and the company's policies and objectives, maintaining and improving performance in the areas of Safety, Quality and Environment.

  • To be responsible for ensuring that appropriate repair and maintenance requirements are identified and undertaken as necessary to maintain plant availability and improve efficiency.

  • Advise management of safety issues.

  • Carry out risk assessment and method statement for routine and defect maintenance of tasks as required.

  • Carry out PM inspections on all safety instrumented systems.

  • Carry out break down/routine maintenance as required.

  • Maintain a good standard of housekeeping.

  • Provide E,C&I maintenance support to maximise plant operations

  • Assist in the detailed planning of and preparation for plant maintenance shut down periods.

  • Recommend modifications or maintenance procedures that enhance the plants or department's performance.

    Able to attend site 'out of hours' to respond to breakdown or emergency situations

  • Enthusiastic and competent problem solver with a practical approach to engineering problems.

  • Willing to help other maintenance colleagues during breakdowns/routine maintenance

  • PC literate, and capable of learning how to use new software systems.

  • Good communication and organizational skills

  • Self motivated, requiring minimal supervision and able to cope with numerous issues simultaneously and capable of prioritising tasks accordingly


  • Desirable Skills:
  • FLT Driver

  • Good knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation

  • Knowledge of DCS, ESD and PLC based control systems

  • Salary from £32,000 - £34,000
