Full Job Description

As a Teacher of Sport, you will motivate and empower learners to achieve their potential and grow in confidence as they progress through the vocational course. You will develop ways of working that are responsive to learners' needs and demonstrate the ability to monitor and evaluate progress effectively. You will be competent in all relevant assessment procedures on the BTEC Level 2 and 3 courses and ensure all deadlines are adhered to. Finally, you will support all aspects of student development to ensure they are equipped with the tools and experience they need to move on to a successful future.

Successful candidates will possess an appropriate degree and teaching qualification. It would be desirable to have recent experience and knowledge of teaching the BTEC Level 2 and 3 Sport courses. Applications from NQT/RQT are welcome.

Stockport County Football Education deliver an established and successful football and education programme for talented young footballers aged 16-19 who study a full-time BTEC qualification alongside their training and fixtures in an elite environment. We are partnered with Stockport College (part of the Trafford College Group) under a subcontracting arrangement and employ our own teaching staff who currently deliver qualifications to over 180 students.

Teachers will work in direct unison with our coaches and support staff to provide students on the programme with a truly exceptional overall provision, whether they aspire to become young professionals, move on to university courses or gain employment when completing their qualification.

An exciting development for the 2023-24 academic year was the first cohort of students studying on our 'Sports Career Pathway' programme, which combines their BTEC studies with a full programme of enrichment in one of four career specialisms, rather than as a football player. This gives learners a unique opportunity to experience extensive work-based training and development in Coaching, Sports Rehabilitation, Sport Analysis or Strength & Conditioning. The Sports Career Pathway students are progressing very successfully this year, and this unique programme will be expanding further in 2024-25.
