Full Job Description

The department of sleep medicine is based in the Cumberland infirmary in Carlisle and provides assessment, diagnosis and treatment of predominantly obstructive sleep apnoea. The department continues to grow exponentially, currently we have over 2000 patients on CPAP therapy and receive over 1000 referrals per year. The sleep service provides a helpline to enable patients to contact the department directly for immediate advice and assistance. The post holder will be a key member of the sleep service team that delivers a high quality diagnostic and treatment service for outpatients and works closely with the wider respiratory team., Under the direction of the Sleep Consultant / Specialist Nurses / Physiologist the post holder will set up limited sleep studies and initiate Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy treatment for outpatients. The post holder will independently monitor and manage patients' CPAP therapy using remote monitoring system and assist in the downloading and retrieval of results from equipment used by patients during assessment and treatment. The post holder will be responsible for communicating with patients regarding their CPAP therapy, including supporting the CPAP helpline and working autonomously to deliver regular therapy review clinics.
