We have an exciting opportunity for a hardworking and passionate individual to lead our Family Residential Centre as the Team Manager, on a full-time permanent basis.,

  • Managing a team of residential workers and coordinate staffing rotas.

  • Work together with the Local Authority to ensure effective placement of families.

  • To create a culture and ethos where the complex needs of the individual parents and children and the group are met.

  • Quality assure transition/care plans and to ensure that these are aspirational in terms of supporting individuals and families.

  • To ensure that the physical environment of the centre remains at a high standard at all times.

  • Hold team meetings to share information, practice developments and share any arising issues with the Management Team for resolution.

  • Attend a variety of formal meetings to represent the Service and / or on behalf of the Children's Services Manager.

  • This role includes an expectation of on call, rota cover and out of hours working.

    Must hold a valid UK drivers' licence.

  • Must hold a Level 3 qualification relevant to Residential Childcare.

  • Must hold OR be willing to work towards the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care and Children & Young People's services.

  • At least 3 years' experience working with children (within the last 5 years) and at least 1 year at Senior level supervision or management experience working with children/young people and their families in a residential setting.

  • Sound knowledge and experience of working with OFSTED Regulations and Quality Standards of Children's homes with the ability to support the service to achieve a rating of outstanding.

  • Sound knowledge and experience of recording and reporting to enable safeguarding and protection of children & young people.


  • Whilst Welland House will be your base location, you must be flexible to travel throughout the locality to support our other homes should the need arise. These are located in Hinckley, Coalville and Syston.

    Service Overview: Barnardo's, the UK's largest Children's Charity are currently on an exciting and innovative Journey alongside Leicestershire County Council to deliver a range of Children's homes for the most vulnerable children & young people in Leicestershire.

    Welland House has 3 self-contained flats with the capacity to house up to 3 families at any one time. Families utilising this type of service may include parents with moderate to high learning needs, those presenting with issues around domestic violence, and or substance/alcohol misuse. Additionally, they may have experienced mental ill health and/or trauma. During their stay, the parents will be supported in their parenting by Barnardo's staff, whilst being assessed by Leicestershire County Council Children's Service.
