Full Job Description

An exciting shared opportunity has arisen in the Refugee & Asylum Seeker and Gypsy & Traveller Teams for the role of a shared Policy Officer, supporting all aspects of policy support and performance management related to the cohorts and the work involved in supporting their integration into Cheshire West communities. Policy Officers enable the delivery of strategic planning and commissioning.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join the expanding Refugee & Asylum Seeker team and the Gypsy and Traveller Team to commission, collate and up-date research and intelligence for both the resettled, settled refugee communities, asylum seekers and travelling communities. You will have experience in Strategic Policy work with the skills and knowledge to devise, initiate, and implement policies. Having experience of working with or for refugees, asylum seekers and/or gypsy/traveller communities you will support ongoing projects whilst maximising resources, ensuring an effective partnership response across Cheshire West and Chester, particularly in relation to the Council/Borough of Sanctuary work. This role is integral to the development of Council policies and the Service Business Plan to maximise its contribution to the economic growth, social and environmental well-being of Cheshire West and Chester.

Experience of working with or for refugees, asylum seekers and/or gypsy/traveller communities is essential.

It is essential that you:

  • Educated to degree level

  • Experience of monitoring statistics and interpreting data

  • Experience managing and delivering projects

  • Skills to develop and support partnership working to ensure excellent and efficient service delivery

  • Great computer literacy and IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Teams.

  • The ability to work on own initiative and self-motivation.

  • Have a flexible approach and able to work across the borough of Cheshire West and Chester
