Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a research group working at the frontiers of eye and vision science. This full-time PDRA will be involved in 2 projects. (1) Identifying retinal cell-to-cell communication changes during the ageing process by harnessing omics databases and AI-algorithms. (2) Investigating molecular pathways to modulate senescence and promote healthy ocular ageing using in vivo, ex vivo, and in vitro models. To achieve this, you will bring research technical skills relevant to eye research and demonstrate knowledge and awareness of recent advances in the field. You will be joining the research team of Professor Reinhold Medina at the Department of Eye and Vision Science in the Institute of Life Course and Medical Sciences.

You will have a PhD (or be about to obtain) in areas relevant to this post (e.g. cell biology, physiology, ophthalmology, and related).

This post is available until 3 March 2027.

Any applicants who are still awaiting their PhD to be awarded should be aware that if successful, they will be appointed at grade 6, spine point 30. Upon written confirmation that they have been successful in being awarded their PhD, they will be moved onto grade 7, spine point 31 from the date of their award.
