Planning Assistant volunteer

The Countryside Charity Northamptonshire (CPRE) are looking for a Planning Assistant volunteer to help find positive solutions for the issues facing Northamptonshire's Countryside and rural communities.

This is a really interesting and varied role and may suit someone who has an interest in the planning system and its effect on the Northamptonshire Countryside, and would like to gain skills and experience in this area to enhance their CV for future employment opportunities and career development.

The role involves analysing specific planning applications and the potential impact on the countryside, occasional visiting to proposed development sites to gain more knowledge of the application, attending group meetings and reporting information, liaising with parish and the Northamptonshire unitary councils and other conservation bodies and providing information to Planning Technical Secretaries.

You will be able to make a real difference to the way in which future planning decisions are made.

• An interest in the countryside and environmental issues


• Previous experience or knowledge of the planning sector is desirable but not essential as training and support are provided


• An eye for detail and interest in investigative work


• Good communication skills


• Ability and time to give to regular volunteering
