Full Job Description

Based at our Oxford head office, you will be working across OUP's international locations, and will be collaborating with key leads and font users from many areas of our business.

The role sits within the Design and Media team reporting into the Global Creative Director, and is also supported by colleagues in the legal, publishing operations, content, technology and procurement teams.

You will be taking a key lead on rolling out systems and communications around font use to all internal users and to key external partners, and will be working with a group of key experts to manage OUP's font use and licensing

You will lead on:

  • Governance and reporting for font use internally and externally

  • Developing and implementing change management for font use across OUP

  • Outlining process with key users for font use across all areas of OUP activity

  • Company-wide communications on all font related updates and policies

  • Managing key relationships with internal and external font partners.

  • Identifying opportunities and key industry trends to inform OUP's font roadmap.

    Essential:

  • Excellent administrative and organisation skills with good spoken and written English and robust proofreading abilities

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

  • Experience of collaborating with, negotiating with and influencing senior internal and external stakeholders

  • Able to prioritise a varied workload and to work on own initiative

  • Able to work collaboratively and foster positive working relationships internally and externally

  • A proactive team player, able to collaborate with a wide variety people from across the globe.

  • Meticulous attention to detail with a flair for data and systems

  • An In-depth knowledge of manipulating and reporting data using Microsoft Excel

  • Flexibility to have occasional meetings with international colleagues in International time zones.


  • Desirable:
  • Experience and understanding of font providers and how fonts are used in publishing Content, including digital and marketing use.

  • Previous experience working with asset management or rights systems

  • Comprehensive knowledge of current font licensing practice.

  • Extensive knowledge of font software and licensing.
