Full Job Description

Are you a highly motivated and enthusiastic Registered Learning Disability Nurse or Registered Mental Health Nurse?

Are you dedicated to improving the lives of people with learning disabilities?

We would love you to consider joining our multi-disciplinary forensic inpatient team based on Evenlode, at Littlemore Mental Health Centre. The forensic learning disability service is a 10 bedded Medium Secure ward, which supports males with Neurodevelopmental, Mental Health and Forensic needs.

We are very keen to recruit professionals with a commitment to continually improve services and enthusiasm to contribute to the development of the service.

We are a proactive, positive and experienced team of professionals and we pride ourselves on working collaboratively with the men on the ward.

We work within the principals of positive behaviour support and use the 'Good Lives' model of care to inform our practice. We have a strong commitment to link with families and carers to ensure our service is holistic and meaningful to all those involved in our care., We believe in the Good Lives Model of Care which respects the Human Rights of Patients, Families and Staff to improve the quality of life for everyone.

We use a Positive Behavioural Support Framework to understand behaviours of concern, to educate and to communicate needs in a more effective and safe manner.

Our aim is to develop skills to live safely in the community. We prioritise reducing risk via recovery, education, formulation and skill building.

As a nurse, you are encouraged to work as part of the leadership team to meet the needs of our ward and support staff with supervision and development opportunities.

We now also link with the Forensic Community Mental Health Service who have specialist Learning Disability Nurses who support the discharge and aftercare of our patients.

The service provides a range of opportunities for career development both now, and in the future. The Trust provides a sound preceptorship programme to support newly qualified nurses to aid their development and invests strongly in our Leadership Teams to support this journey.

We have an excellent relationship with local universities and post-graduate training providers. In addition to this you will have access to both local and trust training and shadowing opportunities to support your continuing professional development.

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust provides physical, mental health and social care for people of all ages across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Swindon, Wiltshire, Bath and North East Somerset.
