Full Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Examinations and Assessments Manager to join our team at the MIS and Exams Department within the Finance & Corporate Services Directorate.
Reporting to the Senior Funding and Planning Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that all exams administration processes are carried out efficiently and effectively, including learner registrations, examinations, achievement claims, and certifications. You will oversee the production of examination and assessment timetables and provide support to the curriculum teams regarding exams delivery and associated practices.
The successful candidate will have previous experience in examinations and assessments management, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and strong leadership abilities. You must have a flexible approach to working hours, including evenings as required. You will also be required to support the MIS team during enrolment events.

  • Developing strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Identifying and implementing best practices across the sector

  • Providing statistical/business analysis data for business planning purposes, external submissions, or the governing body, as required

  • Managing the examination entry process, including gathering information from teaching staff to ensure learners' examination entries are made correctly and on time

  • Ensuring JCQ and awarding body regulations are adhered to and any changes are administrated in a timely manner

  • Maintaining the security, storage, and distribution of examination/assessment materials in accordance with awarding body regulations

  • Developing and maintaining an examinations calendar that records all aspects of the examinations cycle

    A relevant qualification at level 3 or above, or relevant experience

  • GCSE Maths and English at grade A-C/4+, or recognised equivalent, or to attain within the probationary period

  • An in depth understanding of relevant policies and procedures that are critical for the running of an effective examinations service

  • Extensive knowledge of the education sector, including the current challenges potentially facing the examinations service

  • An in depth understanding of JCQ regulations and policies

  • Experience of leading change in business processes, using evidence to inform decisions

  • Experience of managing a team
