Role Summary

The F-35 team is growing and an opportunity has arisen for a Customer Program Leader to lead/support the ongoing the F-35 Remote/Input Output (RIO) & Standby Flight Display (SFD) program with specific duties associated with ownership of production contracts. The role sits within the UK Electrical Power systems business of GE Aerospace, reporting to the F-35 Senior Program Manager.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop as a Program Manager by applying Daily Management Lean Principles with a potential for in-role promotion. The successful candidate will lead the cross-functional team to deliver on all program(s) deliverables within the terms and conditions of the contract and business case.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Establishes and maintains regular customer reporting rhythms.

  • Accountability and leadership of the Production contracts of RIO & SFD. All contract performance related activities, tied to customer(s) or program(s). Perform as interface between the customer and the internal business team, managing the transfer of information and requests.

  • Working closely with Engineering, Order Management, Planning, Sales, all aspects of Supply Chain, Sourcing, Quality, and In-Service Support. Define the sequence of activities necessary to deliver the scope of work within time and resource constraints; manages critical path and realigns priorities to balance stakeholders' requirements.

  • Lead Toll Gates 10, 11 & 12 across the suite of RIO, SFD & RMS in timely manner.

  • Works effectively across Organisational Matrix to prioritise, monitor, align and report relevant metrics - such as S&OP, production scheduling, delivery forecasting, demand management, order-book management, revenue, and margin debt collection & cash-flow, quality, On Time delivery, etc.

  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate export licences and governmental requirements are maintained for assigned programme(s).

  • Understands the business case and cost baseline to establish budget constraints, drives actions to achieve programme deliverables and business & financial targets throughout the programme lifecycle which include recurring product cost & nonrecurring development costs.

  • Assure timely resolution of issues, keep the customer advised of the progress of the program, and negotiate changes, variations, solutions to issues.


  • Required Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge in Product Management & Program Management.

  • A technical background, preferably a degree in Engineering.


  • Desired Characteristics/ Skills
  • Trained in Lean Six Sigma.

  • Trained in Problem Solving through Root Cause Corrective Action.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (as required).

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Lead initiatives of moderate scope and impact.

  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.

  • Effective problem identification and solution skills.

  • Proven analytical and organisational ability.

  • Highly motivated with personal credibility and the ability to influence internally and externally.

  • Ability to work on own initiative.
