Full Job Description

The successful candidate will manage 5 staff and the council's services and amenities which include 8 parks and play areas, a Skatepark, Pump Track, Ponds Area, 2 sports pitches, wildlife reserve, community orchard, 2 allotment sites and a civil burial ground.

Churchdown Parish Council has a wide-ranging portfolio from planning, climate and environment to young people and wellbeing.

You will take on the pivotal role in ensuring the council continues to move forward by delivering new initiatives and projects. We need a person with initiative and vision who can work effectively with councillors, partners and the community to enable the Council to continue making a positive impact.

Salary is based on 32 hours per week and will be determined according to the National Joint Council rates, Dependent upon qualifications and experience. Duties will require some evening work including attending Council meetings ( 3 per month ).

Churchdown Parish Council is looking to recruit a proactive individual who is an excellent manager and ambassador to partner our elected members in delivering their priorities to the Community.

We are seeking a candidate with sufficient knowledge, resilience and leadership skills to deliver the business of the council and ensure that our democratic responsibilities are carried out lawfully and in the best interests of residents. You will need to be a good communicator, be able to work under pressure and possess the ability to deal with a wide range of people with both diplomacy and tact.

You will also be the Council's Responsible Financial Officer, responsible for all financial records of the Council and the careful administration of its finances.

Ideally, you will be an experienced local government professional with CiLCA qualification. However, studying for this would be funded in the first year of employment for a candidate bringing transferable skills from other backgrounds. Proven experience of managing a team of dedicated staff with empathy and focus is very important.,
